Setting: The setting of The boy in the striped pajamas is in 1942 in Germany during the Holocaust.
The son of a Nazi officer lives in luxury in a house next to a concentration camp. Yes, the setting does matter because if it was taken place somewhere else in a different time period it would not have the same meaning while reading the book as it does. In my opinion it makes me want to read it from a little boy's point of view during the holocaust instead of being from 2000 in modern day Germany. The setting affects the characters because the little boy does not understand why is moving all the time for his dads job he has no idea about a lot of things till he meets a little boy in the concentration camp.
Point of view: In the story the little boy Bruno is the narrator of the story, he is part of the action that happens in the story. At first he does not know what the other characters are thinking because he first comes home to people moving everything to move for his fathers job and hates it. He does not have a distinct personality he is one of the main characters in the story.
