independent reading 2

Letter to the author:

The story the boy in the striped pajamas is one of the books I have read in a while. The story shows me from a different point of view from the holocaust instead of the victims it shows me about family members from a Nazi solider. I would have never thought that is how it is especially from a little boy. Even though the book is fiction I still have learned a lot about the holocaust even though I have already learned about it in school. I would recommend this book to anyone especially people who don’t like reading would find this book enjoyable. When I read the book I expected it to be about killing everyone and the little boy hate everyone not become friends with the boy from the concentration camp and want to help him get out of there. It was a very shocking book that I have read; I can read this over and over again. I cannot wait to see movie see if it’s how I pictured it when I read the book. Bruno is my favorite character in the book he is a nice boy and does not let what his dad believes make him who he is. The beginning of the book was not how I thought it was going to be it started off very weird and I was confused it did not seem like it was in Germany it just seemed like any other family who was moving until the General scared the little boy when he was bad mouthing his dad’s job.
Thank you for sharing this very good book.

Setting: The setting of The boy in the striped pajamas is in 1942 in Germany during the Holocaust. The son of a Nazi officer lives in luxury in a house next to a concentration camp. Yes, the setting does matter because if it was taken place somewhere else in a different time period it would not have the same meaning while reading the book as it does. In my opinion it makes me want to read it from a little boy's point of view during the holocaust instead of being from 2000 in modern day Germany. The setting affects the characters because the little boy does not understand why is moving all the time for his dads job he has no idea about a lot of things till he meets a little boy in the concentration camp.

Point of view: In the story the little boy Bruno is the narrator of the story, he is part of the action that happens in the story. At first he does not know what the other characters are thinking because he first comes home to people moving everything to move for his fathers job and hates it. He does not have a distinct personality he is one of the main characters in the story.

The 2012 draft had a lot of players to choose from a lot of teams have made dumb decisions on who they have picked. The New England Patriots on the other hand made very good descion on the two players that they drafted last night. A defensive end from Syracuse and Line backer from Alabama cannot get better than that, making an explosive defensive should be the key to making another trip to the superbowl this year without any mistakes in the running game and being outscored by a team who was 9-7.  The other people the Patriots drafted were not big names but all defensive players who are just going to be a shadow possibly for the starters now. I strongly think that they should of picked a quarterback so Tom Brady can be a mentor to since he is not young and his career is coming to an end closer than people think. He can't be in the NFL till hes 40 years old and pull a Brett Farve. I feel like they are going to try and pull an Indianapolis Colts, go from being such a good team to one win a whole season to get the number one pick who is a rookie in the NFL and still have a bad season? Risking to be a bust. I think the Patriots should have put more thought into the draft this year.
